Rock Chalk, Jayhawk

Collegiate (and high school) pride abounds these days as football (!!!!) starts once again and school is back in swing. Our house is no exception.

We've immersed the girls in English and have been working very hard on some basic phrases to communicate. They ask, in Russian, all the time: what is that? as they point. Mostly it's things like door, window, table, man, grape, enchilada (yummy!). While we were in Russia it happened, once or twice, to be "Jayhawk" as Bri had on a KU shirt. We didn't think it made much of an impression, what with the sheer volume of English they were hearing. We concentrated on the more basic words to start building upon.

So, imagine our surprise and delight, when we returned home and suddenly every time she saw a Jayhawk (and there are a lot around here), Hope would say just that. As we run errands (and there are a lot around here) she started pointing to the back license plate, adorned with a KU plate and saying the word. Leah has started as well. So, while we promise we didn't try to force the word (and the chant!) upon them, these girls seem to be true crimson and blue patriots.

So, in support of the crimson and the blue's first game tonight, here are our little Jayhawks.
