Kindergarten Eve

Tomorrow is K Day. Leah will get on a bus from daycare (which I'm not freaked about because Ms. Sheryl will make sure she's good to go) and then go to school. I tell myself she'll be fine there - she is beyond excited to go and really, really thrives in the structure that school (or at least preschool last year) provides - but I have to trust that people will take care of her and make sure she's OK. I didn't think it would bother me...all summer I've been so excited about school...but now that it's here all I can think of are the scary parts, for me!

And I came home tonight to find I hadn't plugged the CrockPot in and, therefore, the chicken was not cooked.

A more positive post

Leah is five. A week from today she starts kindergarten. Oy.

Her birthday was last week but our little party for her is this weekend; I was out of town immediately after her birthday for my first real girls' weekend EVER. I am blessed beyond measure with a group of faithful, strong, lovely and loving women who are either adoptive mothers, those enduring the adoption roller coaster, etc. I had a soul-refreshing weekend and was with women with whom I just, well, fit.

But back to Leah. Oy. She is such a big girl. We had a lovely day with her and then she had another lovely day with Grammy the next day and now Saturday is a party day. It's the birthday that doesn't end! And then a week from today she starts K. EEEEK.

Dressed, but hair not done yet, first thing on her birthday a.m. There was a Hello Kitty tablecloth, balloons, doughnuts, streamers and more, including the princess tiara.

A new bike! Look! There's a little bike on the bars for a Barbie! (My mother is in HEAVEN!)

A dress rehearsal. I want her to wear this outfit (which I realize you cannot see at all; she's busy watching Toy Story 2) and her new ADORABLE cowboy boots, which are actually on the wrong feet. Hence the dress rehearsal.
