Tana the delightful

I'm so sad. Two weeks to the day after losing their sweet Stella, my parents lost another beloved greyhound today, the absolutely delightful Tana. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, the same disease that took Stella and 3 other greyhounds in our family, on Friday and was going downhill very quickly.

I'm beyond sad and confused. My parents, and us by association, have barely had time to catch our breath from the loss of Stella and now Tana is gone, too, at only 7. I can't quite figure it out and I definitely don't understand it. If you have animals you love, please hug them and spend some extra time loving on them in the coming days. Enjoy them while you can.

The fire anniversary

What's the fourth anniversary? Aluminum? Paper? I honestly have no idea.

We've decided it's FIRE!

Our fourth anniversary is Thursday. We celebrated our honeymoon at what has become one of our favorite spots on earth, a cabin at the base of Pike's Peak. We spent a glorious week there and returned for our second anniversary for the weekend.

Out back, by the hot tub, is a fire pit and we've made our share of S'mores out there.

For years we've talked about building a fire pit in our back yard, but with other home improvement projects and this supposed adoption thing, that just hasn't happened. So, for our fourth anniversary we decided to get a fire pit for the backyard. We picked one on Sunday and love it! We roasted hot dogs over it and ate chili dogs with the leftovers from Saturday night and they were nummy-licious!

We're certain there will be countless nights of fires in our future!

 

Oh, deer

This was my Facebook update this a.m. It pretty much says it all:

Deer hair + busted headlight + dented hood + $2,000 collision repair bill = Holly's morning.

I'm fine, which is good and all obviously, but meeting the deductible is the last thing we need to deal with right now. I just want to stay home and be on my couch.

Stella Luna, the stellar star

My parents lost a beloved greyhound today, Stella, who went far too soon. We love you, baby, and I know you're at the Rainbow Bridge with all who have gone before you. We just wish you were here, with us.

What the couch will say to my butt

Hey...get up. Seriously!

I've parked my rump on the couch, where I expect it to be the remainder of the night tonight and all day tomorrow. That's right. All. Day. Tomorrow.

Except for when I'm up doing laundry. Or when I'm up doing a quick mop of the hardwoods.

I have three more Saturdays at the toy store and two more Sundays - a week from tomorrow and the 25th if the schedule holds. While I will miss it, I'll also look foward to not looking SO forward to couch time!

On the mend

Things are much better here in our world; still some coughs and aches but the upward trend continues.

Rocky start to my favorite month

I love October; it's my favorite month. But with a husband sick on the couch with a fever, sore throat, cough and chills, it's not starting out wonderfully. I went to bed early last night with a slight fever and then felt achey all day today (and worked from home to quarantine here). Don't think we've got the flu, just some kind of cold thing. Here's to hoping it leaves our little house soon!
