It's amazing how much more full and fulfilling a weekend is when you have two weekend days as a couple! This was the first weekend that Brian hasn't worked on Saturday in forever, so we've been able to get so much done together!
Yesterday we did a lot of errands, coming and going quite a bit, since it was the first day with our foster greyhound, Blast. We always recommend quick "come and go's" when you have a new dog in your home, so that come Monday, you don't vanish for 4 hours and have the dog freak out. So far we're very lucky and Blast seems to just be so glad to be in a home with soft beds! We've done some errands today, to, but mostly today has been...
1 - Registration documents. We have a batch of paperwork we can complete now and have our agency check. When our final homestudy report is in and we get our federal government approval, these basic Russian registration documents will get sent to our agency in Russia for a region assignment - when we'll then do MORE paperwork specific to that region.
2 - Beer brewing! Brian hasn't had any time to do a batch in forever, so now he's finishing up some pumpkin beer for fall! Yummy! The batch is getting ready to be put into the fermentation jug with the yeast added to work its magic!
3 - Smoking meat! We usually do (and by we I mean Brian) beef spare ribs on the smoker (his other specialties include beef brisket and pulled pork), but the grocery store had pork ribs on sale, so the smoker is now fired up for some ribs for dinner!
4 - Formal adoption learning. We're required by our agency to do a DVD parenting training series and we watched the first of four modules today and took our tests - and we're happy to report we both passed. The first module was on brain development and sensory rich, emotionally nurturing experiences. One down, three to go! We take Web-based tests that are submitted to our agency; it's nice to have gotten a start.
So...a full weekend, but a good one!
